Acute Stress Disorder

The acute stress disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis. The acute stress disorder is an anxiety disorder. The disturbance lasts for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 4 weeks and occurs within 4 weeks of the traumatic event. The acute stress disorder is caused by avoidance of stimuli which arouse recollections of the trauma. The person's response to the event must involve intense fear, helplessness. The acute stress disorder is 6% to 33% depending on the type of trauma. The posttraumatic stress disorder can occur at any age including childhood.
