Elimination Disorders

The elimination disorders are mainly occur in children having the age of 5 years. The elimination disorder have problems related to the bathroom both defecating and urinating. The elimination disorder is an accidental problem.

Types of elimination disorder

There are two types of the elimination disorder and they are as follows

  • Encopresis
  • Enuresis

What is mean by encopresis?

The encopresis is the repetitive passing of feces into places other than the toilet. This very common in boys than the girls. The encopresis is common problem in childrens. The encopresis is appear about 1.5% to 10% of children. All affected areas must be cleaned with an odor eliminator. The child who have encopresis is at risk for emotional and social problems, depressed, self-esteem problems related to there condition.

The encopresisis diagnised by the X-ray test. Educating the child and family about the disorder is another important part of treatment. Psychotherapy may be used to help the child cope with the shame. The most of the children with encopresis can be quickly and effectively treated with behavioral, medical, psychological and dietary interventions as in combination.

Symptoms of Encopresis

  • Loss of appetite
  • Decreased interest in physical activity

Causes of Encopresis

  • Chronic constipation
  • Lack of exercise
  • Stress
  • Fear

What is enuresis?

The enuresis is the repetitive passing of urine in places other than the toilet. The enuresis is occurs at night. This problem is appear in the children about 5 million to 7 million. The bed-wetting is the common thing of elimination of disorder. These disorders cause emotional and social anxiety for children. The toilet training a child takes a lot of patience, time and understanding.

Causes of enuresis

  • Genetic factors
  • Stress
  • Physically abused
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Fear

Treatments of enuresis

The use of medications to treat bed-wetting is in dispute. A reward system for dry nights. Take care about your child use the toilet and avoid drinking large amounts of fluid just before bedtime. The bladder stretching exercises is used for the enuresis. An alarm system that rings when the bed gets wet and teaches the child to respond to bladder sensations at night.
