Encopresis

The encopresis is the fecal soiling. This fecal soiling appear when children leak stool, always unwillingly into their underwear then they have been potty trained. The encopresis appears same in boys and girls in younger children which are in the age group of 5 years. The encopresis is seen about 1% to 2% of children. The stool is hard, dry and difficult to pass when a person is constipated.

The large poop stretches out the colon weakening the muscles there and affecting the nerves. The colon usually removes excess water from feces. The encopresis can cause bed wetting. The encopresis develops as a results of chronic constipation. The soiling incident appear during the daytime when the child is alert and active. The constipation is affected about 16-37% of school-aged kids.

• The test like a biopsy is the removal of a very tiny piece of tissue for examination under a microscope.
• Anorectal manometry may be useful in delineating the child's defecation dynamics.
• Maintain very regular bowel habits.
• Daily scheduled positive toilet sits are recommended.
